Finding the right support for a neurodivergent child can feel overwhelming for families. Many parents are presented with a narrow range of service options, often centered on compliance-based or behavior-focused models. At Aha Connections, I offer families an alternative, one that is grounded in connection, development, and respect for each child’s unique way of being in the world.

Understanding Aha Connections: A philosophy rooted in relationships

Aha Connections is built on the belief that relationships drive development. Rather than focusing on changing a child’s behavior to fit external expectations, I focus on understanding the why behind a child’s actions, communication, and sensory needs. My approach honors neurodiversity and recognizes that children develop best when they feel safe, understood, and emotionally connected.

This philosophy is rooted in DIR®/Floortime®, a relationship-based, developmental framework that supports emotional regulation, communication, social engagement, and problem-solving through meaningful interactions and play. Sessions are child-led, strengths-based, and individualized, meeting children exactly where they are developmentally, emotionally, and neurologically.

How Aha Connections Differs From ABA Services

In many areas, Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is the most commonly recommended service for autistic children. While families may find value in a variety of approaches, Aha Connections offers a distinctly different model of support.

Rather than prioritizing compliance, repetition, or externally motivated behavior change, Aha Connections emphasizes:

  • Emotional connection over correction

  • Internal regulation over surface level behavior management

  • Developmental progress over skill compliance

  • Child-led play over adult-directed demands

My work is not about “fixing” children or making them appear neurotypical. It is about supporting authentic development, fostering communication, and strengthening relationships between children and the adults who care for them.

Experienced Leadership You Can Trust

Aha Connections is led by Jennifer Deady, an early childhood educator with over 25 years of experience working with neurodivergent children and their families. Jennifer has dedicated her career to supporting children with autism and other developmental differences across a wide range of settings. Her background in early childhood education, combined with extensive experience supporting families, allows her to take a whole-child, whole-family perspective. Jennifer understands that progress does not happen in isolation, it happens through relationships, consistency, and collaboration with caregivers. Families working with Aha Connections benefit from Jennifer’s deep understanding of child development, her respectful approach to neurodiversity, and her commitment to empowering parents and caregivers as essential partners in their child’s journey.

Supporting Families, Not Just Children

At Aha Connections, families are never an afterthought. I believe parents and caregivers are their child’s most important support system. Services are designed to equip families with insight, tools, and confidence, so progress continues beyond each session.

I prioritize:

  • Collaborative goal-setting with families

  • Clear communication and shared reflection

  • Respect for each family’s values and experiences

A Resource for Families Seeking Something Different

If you are a family seeking support that honors your child’s individuality, values emotional connection, and views development through a relational lens, Aha Connections is here for you. I offer a compassionate, informed alternative for families who want more than a one-size-fits-all approach. At Aha Connections, I believe that when children feel connected, they grow, and when families feel supported, everyone thrives.
